The thrill of the sports camaraderie
Those days when supporters would cheer

Now retired and settled into my role
In the California Highway patrol
Chips to be more precise,

Playing an Officer and cadet
To N B C I owe a debt
My sweet heart and I took the vow
Lived the good life the bad and ugly somehow

Connor our young son got killed
While working hard on the highway he drilled
A drunk driver crashed into the crew
Conner died just aged twenty two
I have a tattoo on my arm of my late son
He never got the breaks but still won
Peoples hearts, a beautiful person now gone
My wife and I bless those days and now with love we live on
I have been lucky I say
But would swop my career any day
Just to have our precious Connor back
I would give up what I gave to the track
I am now a promoter of the sport
That gave opportunity and support
Southern California home for me
