Tough Time Blues

Growing up was kind of Rough

Being in School I had to be Tough

Fought The system and other Boys too

Learned to read swallow and chew

Expressed my reasons once I could write

And never backed away from a fight

Yes I was different that what they say

At least the Black sheep of the family

Growing up was kind of Rough

Being outcast was totally tough

Working real hard before leaving school

Set me up as nobodies fool

Being in care was just like

Learning to ride a two wheeled bike

Falling off was temporary

Getting back on was tasting the  cherry

Life wasn't for living for the likes of Me

But I overcame the Stormy sea

The waves just crashed over my shoulder

Creating Barricades and Rock hard  Boulder

Growing up was kind of  tough

But never so rough

As when you ceased to believe in me

Twisted the knife and left me to bleed

I can only surmise with only one thought

I was never your type no never your sort

Growing up was kind of Rough

Being in School I had to be Tough

Fought The system and Bully Boys too

Learned to stand at the back of the queue

Now I am looking back over my crimes

realizing they were not  good times

Perhaps I'm wrong to write these words

which Family find little absurd

Well they don't know me and neither did You

My very existence has always been Blue

Gonna write My songs so listen if you dare

But don't be surprised to realize I cared

For You don't know Me if you think I'm here

To always agree I'm not jealous I swear

Growing up was kind of Rough

Being an adult I had to be Tough

Fought The system and other Guys too

Learned to read swallow and chew.

Hummmmmmmm Hummmmmm Hummmmmmmm Hummm Hum Hummmm hum hum hum hum
