I Picked up a Fiddle to give it a try
With the thought of playing a lullaby
I Placed My Bow and began
The Tune My mother once had sang
The sound was sweet and soft at first
Then the rhythm found its thirst
It echoed sweetly around the Town
Wrapped in an Angels spiritual Gown
I was glad to play the fiddle well
Just like the sound of a churches Bell
From the fiddle shone a light
At first mellow then quite bright
As if in a dream I looked up
Feeling the winds velvet touch
In the distance a familiar face
Was likened to My Mothers Grace
I had lost her a long long time ago
Was I dreaming? I did not know
I continued to play My Melody
My Arco Bowing sincerity
I played and watched as Mother Danced
Along the shore as if in a trance
I was glad to play the fiddle well
Just like the sound of a churches Bell
When my tune came to an end
She Bowed and turned around again
To My face up close a shiver
A soft smile and kiss delivered
The Tune still Breathing in my soul
But she was gone my Heart consoled
I was glad to play the fiddle well
Just like the sound of a churches Bell
My Mother dancing to the Sound
of Angels singing all around
I play my lullaby bye and bye
While looking to the cloudless sky
Wishing for me to see again
Her tender dance to my refrain
The fiddle and I are one together
The sound rings out a simple pleasure
Oh Solay solay solay Oh solay solay solay
Whisper to me whisper to me
Ring to thee sing to me
