I heard a kind of country sound
It came from " A boy and his Puppy Hound"
I looked all around and followed the sound
To no avail could not be found
Hunting far across the fields
Full of corn "This summers Yield"
But where was the boy and his pup
The Hound was howling and wont shut up
I danced and jigged to check the house
Was it off to the north or maybe south
I looked and listened but didn't find
The songs were loud but outta time
I danced right over to the Chicken Shack
Took a two step forward then one step back
Was I doing the Boot scoot slide
Was I being taken for a ride
Hunting far across the fields
Full of corn "This summers Yield"
But where was the boy and his pup
The Hound was howling and wont shut up
That darned sound seemed to be getting close
The Dog a howlin I heard the most
The young boy playing and keeping time
On a six string guitar that cost a Dime
Hunting far across the fields
Full of corn "This summers Yield"
But where was the boy and his pup
The Hound was howling and wont shut up
Finally the song was loud and proud
Way up in the barn they were found
Sitting on a Fresh rolled hay Bale
Singing Country and sipping ale
The dog played banjo oh so well
Only one string but couldn't tell
They sounded cool but still outta tune
The boy sang soprano
The Dog howled at the Moon
Hunting far across the fields
Full of corn "This summers Yield"
But where was the boy and his pup
The Hound was howling and wont shut up
One step two step three step four
Sang a Song and danced some more
Step To the Left and step to the right
Enjoying the hoe down till late tonight
One step two step three step four
Sang a Song and danced some more
Step To the Left and step to the right
Enjoying the hoe down till late tonight
