Painted Lady

 Red, yellow, black and blue

Soft wings flying into view
So many colors that flutter by
Words to describe, Our Butterfly

Little wonders, how they gleam
Living out a painted dream
Red Admiral Holly Blue
Tortoise Shell and Monarch too

Oh, the butterflies, they dance and soar
To the Buddleia at my back door
Colorful and cabbage white
Joy reflected taking flight

Faint breezes blow as they pass through
Whispering secrets, fresh and new
They wait so long to spread their wings
But when they do, my heart just sings

A silent song of gentle grace
Leaving smiles upon my face
Orange Tip Swallow Tail
On the wind they gently sail

Oh, the butterflies, they dance and soar
To the Buddleia at my back door
Colorful and cabbage white
Joy reflected taking flight

From a tiny chrysalis, a world unfolds
Stories whispered, brave and bold
Each a masterpiece, a fleeting art
A gentle rhythm in my heart

Oh, the butterflies, they dance and soar
Bringing beauty to my door
Small, large, or a medium size
Joy reflected in their eyes

Wings of wonder, light and free
Nature's gentle melody
Flying high for all to see
A painted lady with Honey Bee

Oh, the butterflies, they dance and soar
To the Buddleia at my back door
Colorful and cabbage white
Joy reflected taking flight
