I just rode in " new in town"

I was hoping to see a friendly face

Dressed in satin with calico lace

Well "She's just heading out of town"

Travelling on so not around

Wells Fargo is heading out west

Bound for Dodge where she'll be blessed

Please Mam don't leave on my account

Sorry to arrive so unannounced

I'm a Stranger in town and to these parts

Would like to know you "Cross my heart"

I don't know anyone here just yet

And your kindly face seems to suggest

You'll maybe chat and pass the day

Then I'll be on my lonesome way

You look well worn so why so choosy

Take your time to know the town

Ask the Marshall as he's around

You can find him in the barber shop

Or the saloon as he don't stop

Drinking whiskey and singing songs

With his posse all day long

I walked with her and carried the bags

They were quite heavy I didn't flag

Maybe if she does return

We can catch up and maybe burn 

A candle or two with a meal

As that would be a real cool deal
