In eastern Montana the settlers came
They left the Towns and crossed the plain
Leaving the city hullabaloo
Following the rail road in 1862
They had high hopes, optimism and a new belief
That the High plains would give them good reason to leave
They broke the sod and planted Corn
Building homes and shelters for their New Born
Life was hard work but they would endure
The North West winters that did occur
Keeping their hopes under the changing sky
Laying foundation’s ,waving their past lives goodbye
On Montana’s plains their future was shaped
A new way of life forever embraced
A million acres or more were duly obtained
With the the homestead Stake they did obtain
The Gold rush was active but Mines were rare
So panning was the way for many to dare
To seek a fortune and hope to be
A part of the Railroad community
Life was hard work but they would endure
The North West winters that did occur
Keeping their hopes under the changing sky
Laying foundation’s ,waving their past lives goodbye
The settlers drove The Natives out West
To Build New Camps and salvation
The movement of a reservation
This caused great stress for Redskin Tribes
For many Years they would describe
How they were driven from there lands
By the Paleface and Government Bands
They were for years given nothing in return
The South would see Their Teepees burn
America turned into many states
Where Settlers came and created fate
That one day they would even Deny
That they came To Rain Dance and pray to the sky
Life was hard work but they would endure
The North West winters that did occur
Keeping their hopes under the changing sky
Laying foundation’s ,waving their past lives goodbye
Many crops were ruined by drought
As the Indians Nations were driven out
So Montana was not ever meant to be
The best place for Land and Community
