Reflections

 My soul suddenly turned inside out

When I recognized You "There was no doubt"

My life flashed before my eyes

As I remembered You and our last goodbye

Your Face and smile familiar to me

Your hair now silver " Beautiful to Me"

Feelings have mellowed over the years

I react with a smile and then with a tear

You have nothing to gain after so much time

Our lives have been lived " You were out of my mind"

Now standing on the beach where we once stood

Not wishing or hoping as its not good

I knew I loved you way back then

We were young and innocent school day friends

Keeping us secret You arranged blind dates

I told my mother we were just mates

I could only arrange a meet from distance

You became a purpose of my existence

I recalled our meetings at the park

Where cupids arrow would hit its mark

The tip was sharp and missed you completely

Instead it rebounded and surely hit me

You have nothing to gain after so much time

Our lives have been lived " You were out of my mind"

Now standing on the beach where we once stood

Not wishing or hoping as its not good

My passion for you grew so much stronger

And over long months i would wonder

If you would think of me as so much more

Not just the neighbor living next door

Remembering those long summer days

The afternoon glow and evening haze

Surfing the waves at Miami beach

You riding that board in sizzling heat

When fun in the sun came to an end

I waved you goodbye and so long friend

Realizing our hearts were not as one

The time of our lives surely are done

Too much water under the bridge

Too much of a breeze over the ridge

We are so much older now

No turning of tide or time somehow

So asking if this was surely a sign

I would have to say No it seems such a crime

Trying to catch up or taking steps back

Is not for me and going off track

You have nothing to gain after so much time

The moment that you noticed Me

Your face and smile set my heart free

We are so much older now

Can not engage no way anyhow

Wishing and hoping to re-ignite

Its too late now to lighten my life

We could  arrange a meet from distance

To become a purpose of our existence
